Custom Bokeh.
It has been the bain of my photographic existence since Kent Weakley posted about it back in November. Multiple times I tried making my own custom bokeh kit and finally I gave up and ordered one from none other than Custom Bokeh.
That didn’t help.
I have tried every lens I own to make my pictures include ooey-gooey heart shaped bokeh figures, or patriotic star shapes, but this technique seems to elude my fingertips.
My goal is to use some of this technique in my portraiture, especially during weddings at Christmas with all those perdy twinkly lights… ooooo.
But to do that on the fly, I need to be practiced, professional, able to whip out a custom-shaped bokeh in a moment’s notice. Kind of like the gun-slingers in old west films, eh? They whip out their guns, I whip out my, er, camera.
So here is my latest attempt… I got closer with the stars, but I am not – as yet – a Kent Weakley on my custom bokeh!
